The Conservation Code
- Select 4WD as soon as possible to reduce the amount of environmental damage, try not to
spin wheels
- Stay on the path, don't make new tracks
- Don't leave a mess behind at the scene of a vehicle recovery
- Site your camp away from water, as animals may need to drink there
- Do not site your camp in animal paths
- Take all rubbish with you; do not bury it for the animals to retrieve
- Burn used toilet paper
- Re-use old fire places if possible
- Try to restore the campsite as far as possible, before leaving
- Don't collect fauna or flora
- Don't attempt to pet wild animals
- Avoid spilling chemicals, fuels and oils
- Use bio-degradable / bio-friendly soaps
- Don't bathe, or wash objects in streams or rivers or within 50 Meters of the watercourse
- Don't dispose of dirty water within 50 Meters of a watercourse
- Only collect firewood when permission is granted by the owner
- Only collect as much firewood as required, don't make bonfires!
- Site a campfire where it will not start a veldfire, or make smoke in other peoples tents
- Take only memories, leave only footprints behind
